Nearly time to go!

Time to pack those suitcases! Looks like the weather in Iceland won't be that different to April in Guildford - really chilly! So I think hats, gloves and scarves might be needed, especially for the trip out to sea whale watching. Watch this space for news about how we all get on.

Back Home

It's nice to be home and to see my family again.  My sisters had made me a lovely welcome home cake.  The Poland trip was very exciting and great fun.  I wish I could do it again next year.  My host family were very kind to me and we ate a lot of food which wasnt as bad as i thought it would be.
I can't wait for the Polish children to come to England at the end of May.
The best bit of the trip was going to Krakow and seeing the dragon statue.

Geraldine's first HTPD residential!

My visit to Poland began in a small town square and finished in the largest plaza in Europe and the time between has been no less varied. From a mountain trip to the city streets I have loved my experience of a Holy Trinity foreign tour of duty.

We have all been amazed by  the generosity of the school community in Rybnik both in their patience and kindness. The children have all been made to feel part of the family and have looked so content and relaxed.  I have felt welcomed by the school and enjoyed sharing a Polish assembly.

Kracow has been a fantastic experience with its beautiful architecture and the magnficent open spaces.  One day is not enough to see it all and so I will be back. It's been great getting to know the teachers better, for once I am not trying to give them books and the chance for real conversation has been great.
Thank you Holy Trinity for being the sort of school willing to embrace this sort of experience despite all the work that goes into organising it,

Nina's comments

We've made so many friends on this trip. At the start, we were all a bit nervous of each other, but now we feel like a family... (the boys are actually OK, although you wouldn't think it!) We'll remember this forever!

Last night musings

The children are all very sleepy and heading off to bed. They're reflecting back over their time in Poland and are feeling proud at all they have achieved. It's been another fabulous day - Krakow is a beautiful city with a multitude of places at which to marvel and we've all decided to come back some day soon.

The highlights for the children include the shopping for presents, the fire-breathing dragon, the pizza, the city tour, the street entertainers...they can tell you all about it next week.

For me, I've loved having time to stop and stare, soaking up the atmosphere and wondering what stories lie behind the churches, alley ways and market places. Definitely not enough time in one day to scratch beneath the surface, but the glimpses we've had of this place will stay with us all forever.

See you soon

Fabulous Day In Krakow

Hello HT !
We have returned from a great day in Krakow (From my point of view)!
I say from my point of view because:
A -Dougal somersaulted and we suggested that he had a shot for the 2012 Olympic's gymnastic team
B-Naomi bought a bracelet and Nina sat on it :(
C-Millie broke her snowglobe

From  an  Extremely tired Mike
Today we went to Krakow to go shopping where we saw a dancing grandad which I will put on the blog tomorrow when I get home.

At one point I ran up a 40 degrees slope and ran down doing a 360 degrees somersault at the bottom of the slope, luckily I survived unscathed apart from a muddy leg.
